For my flower pictures I
usually use Sanderson's
Waterford Hot Pressed
Paper. This is a good
quality acid-free paper
that enables the painter
to get greater detail
because of its
exceptionally smooth
surface. My aquarelle or
water-colour paints are
Winsor and Newton, again
because of their quality
and light-fastness. Like
all watercolours,
though, it is best if
they are hung away from
direct sunlight because
they might begin to fade
after many years in the
sun. Aquarelles always
need to be in a glass
fronted frame.
I also use Chroma
Paints; these too are
diluted with water. They
are resin based and are
waterproof and
lightfast, and can be
used like a normal
watercolour painting or
can be applied more
thickly to produce a
painting very like an
acrylic. Chroma paints
were originally created
to paint the Disney
cartoons, so their
colours are bright and
very long-lasting.
Chroma paints do not
fade in sunlight, and if
applied thickly they do
not need to be displayed
in a frame under glass.
